2802 UNITED STATES (New York) - Line 7 of New York City Subway

2802 New York City Subway - A train made up of R62As cars in 7
service entering Queensboro Plaza, bound for Flushing-Main Street
New York City -Empire State Building

Within the nomenclature of the subway, the "line" describes the physical railroad track or series of tracks that a train "route" uses on its way from one terminal to another. In the subway system of New York City, "routes" (also called "services") are distinguished by a letter or a number and "lines" have names. In this system, there are 24 train services. Each route has a color and a local or express designation representing the Manhattan trunk line of the particular service.

The 7 Flushing Local and <7> Flushing Express are two rapid transit services in the A Division of the New York City Subway, providing local and express services along the full length of the IRT Flushing Line. Its route emblem, or "bullet", is colored raspberry, with local service denoted by a (7) (within a circular bullet) and express service by a <7> (within a diamond-shaped bullet). Both services operate between Main Street in Flushing, Queens and 34th Street–Hudson Yards in Chelsea, Manhattan.

The 7 operates with 11-car sets; the number of cars in a single 7 train set is more than in any other New York City Subway service. Regarding the rolling stock, in 2008, when the photo was taken, were used R62As cars, built between 1984 and 1987 by Bombardier in La Pocatiere, Quebec, with final assembly done in Auburn, New York and Barre, Vermont under a license from Kawasaki. Since 2008, all R62As on the 7 have been upgraded with LED lighted signs to distinguish between express and local trains.

All the stamps
The first stamp is one of the two of the series Hot Rods, designed by John Mattos and issued on June 6, 2014. The second stamp, which honors Flannery O’Connor (1925-1964), is part of the series Literary Arts, about which I wrote here. About the last stamp, depicting the president Abraham Lincoln, I wrote here.
